My tiki friends what are you're best cocktails of all time?

Jungle Bird. Gorgeous to start. But lets get real. Nothing tastes like Campari. Its divisive. Some of you out there will say its too bitter. Then the rest of us go missing during Negroni week. The campari and Appleton rum set each other off. Its a perfect and I mean a perfectly complimentary pairing. Jungle Bird!

Center of the Galaxy. Jungle Bird (I use St George Bruto Americano) Something like a salzrac using rye, absinthe, benadictine, and bitters. I like it because I didn't need fresh fruit for it, not even a lime.

I walked into smugglers cove because it was my neighborhood bar that I didn't know about for years and ordered a Puka Punch. I haven't been the same since.

Daiquiri. Always a daiquiri.

Mai tai, ancient mariner, jet pilot, and the Rongo Rongo are all up there in the very top for me.

Some dispute that it's tiki, but I've been told I make an awesome pina colada. Don't know what I'm doing that makes it awesome, other than singing the Pina Colada song while shaking it (which I don't think is very special, I'm sure everyone does it) I think my best is my mai tai - use S&C and do a Cruzan blackstrap float, go a little heavier on the orgeat.

Having just returned from Sao Paulo, I can’t get enough of Caipirinhas. Not sure if people feel that this magnificent beverage fits in the standard canon. But I have added it to my personal tiki favs.

The most popular at my tiki parties are Jet Pilot, Mai Tai and Pain Killer.

1. Polynesian Pearl Diver at Tikehau Lounge. If you’re in Maui, GO. 2. \[REDACTED\] at Paradise Lost. Best painkiller anything I’ve ever had. 3. Last Rites at Last Rites. It rocks, and the bar rocks. 4. Creamsicle Margarita from Daisy. Obligatory non-tiki, this place rules. 5. First Navy Grog I ever made myself with El Dorado 12, Appleton 12 and Bacardi 10. This drink made tiki click for me.

Aside from the classics, several things in the menu at Tiki Ti: Ray's Mistake, Jim's Special, Blood and Sand, ... Can't be too mad about Lost Lake as it's where I took my wife on our first date, but I never thought the drinjs were on par with random California Tiki bars.

Maybe not perfectly Tiki by definition but tropical, deserving honorable mention, the “La Chancleta” at Cafe La Trova in Miami. James Beard award winning bar program and all-time spot for a fun night of rum drinking.

The daiquiris I had at Manolitos in New Orleans. Ohh, the super Hurricane from Cane and Table in New Orleans, that one kicked my ass. Or maybe the painkiller at Golden Tiki. Or was it the Mai Tai at Devils Reef, or the ones I make at home.

Lost Lake: * 2 ounces Jamaican rum (preferably Appleton Signature) * 3/4 ounce lime juice * 1/2 ounce pineapple juice * 3/4 ounce passionfruit syrup * 1/4 ounce Luxardo * 1/4 ounce Campari I've never heard of it, but I'm sold.

One of my all-time favorites is the Pearl Diver at Strong Water. Also, I know that tiki is great when it’s hot outside, but either the Zombie Toddy at Trader Sam’s or the Hot Buttered Rum at Smuggler’s Cover are wonderful in the wintertime.

A coworker of Sam's served us a Tony Rocky Horror @ Attaboy Nashville, which was delightful. Tried a Scottish rum at Last Rites, which was interesting. Really enjoy their eponymous drink. The verrry cherry drink I had at Hale Pele in Portland was delightful, and the perfect Singapore Sling as well.
